The objective of the project was to build a cloud-based IT platform for poultry flock management, that meets the requirements and needs of poultry industry enterprises from the programme area, Baltic region, European Union, and beyond.
SIA WeAreDots from Latvia and Wazombi OÜ from Estonia combined their competences in IT by collaborating with typical poultry industry enterprises Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu, as well facilitating via LORA (Biedrība „Latvijas Olu ražotāju asociācija”) and EPS (Eesti Linnukasvatajate Selts), the system and user interface requirements were identified, validated, and tested with their respective member organizations. It allowed building a system that meets the requirements of as many and different poultry industry organizations as possible considering different operational models, levels of technology used within the organization, and other specific needs e.g. different species of birds: hen, quail, etc.; different types of organizations: egg production, hatchery eggs, etc.; differences in ways of keeping the birds: caged, free-range, barn, etc. and other factors.
As a result, project partners created cloud-based IT platform Aihen for poultry flock management, that is designed for small and medium enterprises and will be used for poultry flock management in the programme area, Baltic region, European Union, and beyond.
A mobile application of Aihen is an additional product and service, created in the project, and is intended for on-site use in poultry houses and barns, which is an essential feature.
The new platform was promoted at RIGACOMM in October 2019, Microsoft AI-day in December 2019, and at the Exhibition in Hannover in November 2018 where the presentation also took a place. Information about the Aihen can be found in several publications and websites - the feasibility study document, project website, brochures in English, Estonian, Latvian, and Russian and on partner websites.
